Vigil at the Flagpole, Saturday

Rock This Democracy!

Join citizens here and across the country on Saturday, April 19th, as in Newtown we will gather at the Flagpole on Main Street at 7 pm, lining the sidewalks on both sides of the street from Newtown Meeting House southward only (not north of the flagpole)  to protest the outrageous disappearance and imprisonment of at least two innocent men into El Salvador’s notorious CECOT prison by the tRump administration.

Bring your voices, your signs, your candles, your cameras, and your determination to fight this outrageous miscarriage of justice as we express our solidarity across the country in defense of democracy, due process, and the rule of law! HUNDREDS of 50501 rallies are taking place the same day across America and you can be part of that movement right here! Our last event drew nearly 1,000 people. As America continues sliding into constitutional crisis it is TIME TO ASSEMBLE and SPEAK OUT!

This event begins at 7 pm and ends by candlelight as dusk falls after 8 pm: speakers, expression, information and solidarity in action as we meet together around the flagpole.

PARKING: Ample street parking can be found along parts of Main Street itself. Try also the parking lot behind Newtown Savings Bank on Main Street.  There is also the shopping center on Queen Street (just a few min. walk)  Please leave yourself time to park as you may need to walk a few minutes.
