Senator Blumenthal is correct about the new practices of ICE. Where is the outrage from the Republican side. The party which once represented freedom of rights, protection of the United States Constitution and was against government overreach is now okay with major invasion of privacy and civil liberties. Did you know that ICE now uses platforms and devices to tap into your phone? The most worrisome is an app that fools nearby phones posing as a cell tower, your phone automatically connects to it and by doing so, ICE agents can track your GPS and everything else happening through your phone. All this without a legal justification and warrant by a judge. Using facial recognition software they can immediately find out who you are, where you live, your social media content and much more. Is this the environment under which we want to live? Today they are doing it to others and it doesn’t affect you. Who is to say we are not next? At 11 am we will gather for 30 minutes of speakers and music at the old Police Station, then march to the flagpole to drive home our message: the violence being created by ICE must be de-escalated! Why are we even discussing this? Our country has fallen out of everything we have known as normal. We live in an alternative universe with an upside down value system. Rioters causing an insurrection are being pardoned, while people peacefully protesting in the streets are gunned down in broad daylight, while being called domestic terrorists. The President of the United States, today posted this on Truth Social: "HE HAD A GUN. ONLY CRIMINALS CARRY GUNS ON OUR STREETS. WE NEED LAW AND ORDER. According to Senator Murphy, ICE is taking kids as young as 5 years old, not because their parents are here without a valid visa, Liam's family entered the country legally, but because this is their way to scare, and intimidate immigrants. Also, Greg Bovino videos are showing him throwing "smoke canisters and likely chemical agents" to crowds near an elementary school in order to intimidate and provoke protesters. Lastly, Senator Murphy is talking about the disclosure of a secret memo by the Trump administration alleging they have the power to enter Americans' homes without judge-signed warrants, a clear violation of The Bill of Rights. We are becoming a police state, matters are getting progressively worse. ICE needs to be reformed! The Department of Homeland Security budget just passed by the House, it is heading to the Senate. This is a great example of how elected officials on the national level can affect us directly. Minnesota is under siege. ICE agents are terrorizing neighborhoods, attacking protesters and misusing their power. ICE raids are terrifying, they ignite fear and and starting to affect the state's economy. People are afraid to leave their homes, to go to work, to get groceries, to send their children to school, to live their lives. It is like the state has been invaded by some foreign enemy, when sadly it is our own government doing this on American soil. Today it's Minnesota, tomorrow another blue state. Some prosecutors are making a big sacrifice by resigning, because they were asked to investigate the widow of Renee Nicole Good instead of the ICE officer who shot her. NY Times: Joseph H.
