Doria Linnetz

My husband and I moved to Newtown in 2007, drawn to a community that offered a more reasonable cost of living, excellent schools and a community that shared similar values – education, service, and kindness. We now have two children, both attending Newtown Public Schools. We also share our home with our two dogs (Toby & Ruby) and our cat (Archie).

National politics take up much of the news cycle. However, I believe we need to remain focused on what affects us most directly here in Newtown. My focus will be on bringing a balanced perspective to the issues that matter most to our community and on delivering outcomes that best serve the needs of the people in our town.

Experience

Professionally, over the last 20+ years, I have served as a Human Resource professional in various industries.  What has brought me success in these roles is what also gives me the confidence to serve the community on the Legislative Council – I’m focused on solving problems.  Throughout my career I have faced numerous business and employee challenges which required the understanding of various perspectives and finding balanced, fair and transparent solutions. My approach involves listening, empathy, and clear thinking with a focus on the problem that needs to be solved.

In addition to my professional experience, in 2015 I joined the Board of Directors of EverWonder Children’s Museum, eventually serving as Vice Chair. In 2018, I joined the Newtown Community Center Committee/Commission. It was an honor and a privilege to serve these organizations and, through their missions, the community at large.
