For the Board of Finance, the most important issues are investing in schools and education; encouraging smart business development in town; and working in a bipartisan way to keep our spending affordable – as the BOF has in recent years. More broadly, it is important to keep our town government focused on Newtown issues. We need to prioritize what is relevant for our residents, and filter out non-local forces that only aim to cause artificial division.
Experience:
I’m currently on the Board of Finance, and I believe that Board experience is valuable in tackling our issues going forward. Our budgets, and the many associated issues around them, are very large and complex – balancing smart investment, including in Education, with financial discipline is one of the town’s most significant challenges. I have an MBA, and over 35 years of corporate finance and operations experience working with large budgets, and working across broad teams to best manage them. That financial and teamwork background is what I bring to this role. In addition, I’ve served on the Borough Zoning Board of Appeals for six years, so I get a different perspective on town issues in that position.
I’m serving because I’ve lived in Newtown with my wife Jordana and our 4 great kids for 23 years, and I’m proud to give something back to the community that has been such a big part of our lives. I’d be honored to get your support for another term.
Education:
MBA – Columbia Business School; Finance concentration
Bachelor’s Degree – Dartmouth College; Economics major
