Hello, I’m Michelle Embree Ku, your neighbor, a problem-solver, and a proven community leader who has spent years showing up for Newtown.
With deep roots in local service and a career grounded in science and public health, I lead with integrity, honesty, and compassion.
I believe leadership should feel approachable, decisions should be guided by real life, and Newtown should always come first. Ku Is For You isn’t just a slogan — it’s a commitment to listen, work together, and deliver for the people who call Newtown home.
I jumped in the moment I moved to Newtown 16 years ago. I’ve served in schools, nonprofits, statewide groups, state government, and right here in town. I know how to lead teams. I know how to legislate. I know how to move ideas into action.

Common Sense Values
Real Solutions to Daily Challenges
We deserve leaders who listen on front porches, not just talk in Hartford. I knock on doors because your concerns matter.
Strong Schools for Every Child
Good schools are the heart of our community. I will fight for safe buildings, healthy air, smart investments in learning, and support for special education.
Healthcare That Works for Families
Healthcare shouldn’t be confusing or expensive. I’ll push for better access, better planning, and care that supports women, seniors, and everyday folks.
Real Action on Energy + Environment
Climate change affects our lives now — from storms to bills. I back smart plans for renewable energy and resilient infrastructure.

I’ve called Newtown home for 16-plus years. My husband, Warren, and I raised our three boys here, who attended Newtown’s public schools. Like so many families in town, I’m deeply connected to the community I love — as a parent, a daughter, and your neighbor.
When I go to Hartford as your state representative, I’ll be fighting for all of us, every day. We’re in this together. Thanks for your support!
