I have lived in Newtown almost 25 years. I never tire of the scenery and varied landscape around Newtown, and I love calling Newtown my home. I raised my three children here and cannot imagine a better place to live. My inspiration to run for Legislative Council came during the recent Book Challenges. Literacy is my life’s work, and I want to find ways to help the town navigate this issue and others we will face together.

My goal is to facilitate more transparency and effective communication between the Legislative Council and all Newtown residents.

Experience

I most recently served on the Board of Finance. This board has significantly improved my understanding of the fiscal side of our town and school budgets. As a high school administrator, I am responsible for a million dollar plus budget, many staff members, and special education students. I have also volunteered in town for over 20 years. I was Chairman of the Newtown Youth and Family Services Board; I chaired the Holiday Festival for years, and I have been a foster parent to three teenagers. All of this varied experience has prepared me to lead this town though the coming financial and economic challenges ahead of us.
