Brandon Moore is running for Newtown State Representative because Connecticut needs leaders who are rooted here, tested by service, and prepared to lead on Day One.
Brandon lives in Newtown with his husband Mike and their two rescue dogs, Penny and Hitch. You can find them walking around Fairfield Hills, getting a pup cup for their dogs at Ferris Acres, or grabbing a beer and a snack at NewSylum.
He has dedicated his life to Connecticut and our country. Brandon was born and raised in Connecticut to parents also born and raised in Connecticut. The first in his family to attend college, Brandon was nominated by Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman and Congressman John Larson to attend West Point.
Brandon served for eight years on active duty as a U.S. Army Apache attack helicopter pilot. He flew missions along the DMZ in South Korea and fought the Taliban in Afghanistan. He commanded soldiers, fought for American values, and defended democracy abroad. Brandon earned a Bronze Star for his leadership in combat.

After leaving the Army, Brandon attended Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard Business School. He served as a Policy Fellow to Gov. Ned Lamont and Lt Gov. Susan Bysiewicz, implementing workforce policy that helped thousands across the state secure well-paying jobs. Brandon provided resources needed for parents, veterans, individuals leaving the corrections system, and unemployed residents to achieve economic stability.
Brandon also knows what it takes to win elections. He currently works at Leadership Now Project, a nonprofit that supports pro-democracy candidates across the country who defend our Constitution and stand up to Donald Trump.
Brandon is running for State Representative because Newtown is facing a cost-of-living crisis. Housing prices keep rising with no end in sight. Childcare is completely unaffordable. Energy costs are crushing.
He is also running to stand up to MAGA Republicans locally, statewide, and nationally. He will relentlessly defend immigrants, women, and LGBTQ+ Americans suffering under the Trump administration. He will not yield an inch to extremism, voter suppression, or the divisive politics that undermine democracy.
Brandon represents a new, younger, energetic future of the Democratic Party that must be bolder, more responsive, and relentlessly focused on working people.
His campaign is backed by an exciting and broad coalition. Brandon’s campaign launch featured Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz, Congresswoman Jahana Hayes, former State Rep. Chris Lyddy, and countless Newtown leaders and friends. Veteran organizations, LGBTQ+ organizations, and young Democratic organizations support Brandon because they trust his record and his resolve.
Brandon believes Democrats win when we fight hard, govern competently, and never apologize for standing up for working people.
