Margot Snellback

SnellbackPlanning & Zoning Commission – Alternate

I am running for the position of P&Z alternate, because as a long-time Democrat and first-time candidate, I am honored to fulfill an important need for the DTC. As a past Realtor for Newtown, I had the opportunity to become more familiar with planning and zoning processes, and believe that that experience might serve me well as I become acquainted with the responsibilities of the role. As an Alternative, my goal is to be a fair-minded and careful listener as applicants present their intentions, contributing unbiased and productive perspective in the best interests of Newtown’s ongoing development, when appropriate.

My husband Dean and I have raised 2 children in Newtown, our daughter Leigh, and our son Harrison. Both children attended Newtown public schools and graduated from Newtown High School. I’ve been involved in community life in many capacities, whether as a parent volunteer/chaperone in the public schools, church youth chaperone/fund raiser/event organizer, or assistant Cub-Scout den leader. I’ve also been a pastoral care provider through Stephen ministry at Trinity Church.

When not busy with work, family and volunteer activities, I am a hiking enthusiast, pursuing trail systems across CT, and into New York’s Hudson Valley and Catskill regions; also an avid reader of historical fiction and non-fiction, book group member, and down-hill skier when time allows.
