Who am I?
I am Erica Sullivan, known to many of you as “the Chocolate Lady”, and I would be proud to serve our community as a member of the Newtown Board of Finance. I am also a mom of two wonderful school age children (Jack & Kate), have been married to my husband, Patrick for 19yrs, am a successful local business leader, an active social justice advocate and a member of the Newtown Business Advisory Council.
Why would you choose me for the BOF?
I have a lot of skin in the game. As the leader of a well established thriving local business (Castle Hill Chocolate), I encourage economic development in order to support a fiscally prosperous and thriving business community. My goal is to increase the grand list so that we lessen the dependence on residential property for tax revenue. As a mom of two children, both enrolled in our school system, I advocate for strong, well financed public schools. As a taxpayer, I have a vested interest in balancing fiscal responsibility with maintaining a desirable, yet affordable community.
I believe in an equitable & inclusive community. Everyone has a voice and I want to hear about what is most important you. I also encourage a team approach to town governance. Through collaboration, I believe that we can build a strong consensus among all of our community leaders to do what is in the best interest of all of Newtown.
If given the opportunity to serve our community, I would bring a new energy to the BOF, ready to tackle both enduring and new fiscal challenges that have the greatest impact on the health and wellbeing of our town.
